Brian Kirk named Royals coach

Brian Kirk was introduced today as the new boys' basketball coach at Mason County High School.

Kirk, a 2004 graduate of Augusta High School, was the head coach at Augusta the past three seasons compiling a 47-38 record.

He guided the Panthers to a 63-61 victory over Mason County in the championship game of the 2016 39th District Tournament. Mason County avenged the loss with a 48-41 victory over the Panthers in the championship game of the 2016 10th Region Tournament.

Kirk is second on Augusta's all-time scoring list. He was named to the All-10th Region Team in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and is a member of the 10th Region Hall of Fame.

Kirk played basketball at Union College. He was an assistant coach at Knox County Central for two seasons and the head coach at Burgin High School for three seasons before returning to Augusta in 2015.

Buddy Biggs resigns as Royals coach

Maysville --- The Mason County Athletic Department would like to announce the resignation of Buddy Biggs as the head boys basketball coach.  Coach Biggs served as the boys basketball coach for the past three years, winning district titles in 2017 and 2018, while winning a region championship in 2016. Coach Biggs’ tenure at Mason County resulted in a record of 57 wins and 41 losses. We appreciate all of Coach Biggs’ contributions and efforts the past 3 seasons.

Leevi Dunaway 11th on the Royals' All-Time Scoring List

Leevi Dunaway (Class of 2018) is 11th on the Royals' all-time scoring list with 1,421 career points. He scored 618 points in his senior season. Dunaway scored a career-high 49 points in an 80-72 victory over the East Carter Raiders.
